The Art of Sabzi

Sabzi's subjects are almost always women, beautiful, graceful, taciturn and lugubrious, they reflect solitude. His women are Madonna's, modern goddesses, and martyred saints whose elongated form suggest instability and internal conflict. Their anonymous faces transform then into religious icons that transcend and defy the demands of reality. Yet, other paintings reflect warmth, charm, gayety, happiness, and his undisputed love and admiration for women.

Sabzi's paintings resonate both Eastern and Western philosophies. His rich Persian heritage provides him with ancient images and sentimental Persian themes and memories of innocence. The Western source of influences comes from one of the most creative moments of modernism of Cezanne and Matisse.

"My artistic inspiration, the very basis of form and color for my work, comes from my childhood memories of Persian rugs designed and weaved by my mother. As I watched her for hours creating gorgeous patterns, hues and textures, her fingers dancing across the loom, the designs and shapes of my current work took form. My creations flow from the same source of energy and creativity that inspired my mother." - Sabzi

In Memory of Christian Nesvadba (1977 - 2008)

It is with deep regret we inform you of the tragic passing of the esteemed Christian Nesvadba. Christian was involved in an auto accident on October 7, 2008. He left behind a daughter and wife.

We share in this loss with Christian’s father, Gerhard and his mother, Hermine. Please keep the entire family in your thoughts and prayers.

Christian Nesvadba was born to paint. His eye for color, movement, and mood are exquisite, and his riotous Impressionist flowers are only beginning to receive the attention they merit. His first major award was the prestigious SalzBurger Kulturfonds Prize, earned in 1997 when the artist was just twenty years old. Two one-man shows in SaIzberg (premiere) and in Linz followed in 1998. He enjoyed a One-Man Exhibition at the Galerie Operning in Vienna in 1999, and his US debut at the NY Art Expo 2000 with Paul Robinson, Inc., all before age 23.

Nesvadba was born in 1977 in Vienna, son and grandson of successful painters. His father, the celebrated landscape artist, Gerhard Nesvadba, was his first tutor.

Marko Mavrovich - A Vibrant Self-Taught Artist

Marko is a self-taught artist, though his influences include Winslow Homer, the French Impressionists, and his father (Miro, a watercolor artist). His passion for capturing the beauty of the ocean remains a constant theme in his work. Marko Mavrovich expertly captures the fleeting effects of light on the cool ocean water and verdant hillsides. Marko's work has been widely exhibited in the United States, Europe, and Japan but especially in the home of his heritage, Croatia; where he has enjoyed considerable prestige and success in both one man and group shows every year since 1984. In the last year Marko's sucess has spread to Tokyo, Japan where he has just finished two sell out shows which proved there is no end to his international appeal.
