Introducing a New Original by George Tsui

"BEAUTY BEHIND THE MASK"
George has a fascination for masks,be they Japanese,Chinese, or Italian.Their frozen expression, blank eyes, scornful smile-all give him a sense of the mysterious, powerful yet strange. In this particular work, hedeliberately painted the mask to be skinlike,
as if the concubine is peeling off her face; all this suggesting that, even in the olden days, concubines were no exception in wanting to be somebody else.
The piece was transformed from George's original idea of a pastel-type
color painting to a glazing of the background down to almost nighttime.
The mask was kept as the main focus, with the golden fan, and finally the
girl holding the mask, following in importance.
